I’m a member of a Congressionally mandated study under the direction of the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. The study, Emerging Trends in Aviation Safety, aims to identify, categorize, and analyze emerging safety trends in air transportation by reviewing data and analyses from relevant sources of information. The committee will assess whether this information is being analyzed in ways that can help identify emerging safety risks as the aviation system evolves and whether other information should be collected and analyzed for this purpose.
